Man or Astro-man?

Man or Astro-man? is a surf rock group that formed in Auburn, Alabama in the early 1990s and came to prominence over the following decade.
Primarily instrumental, Man or Astro-man? blended the surf rock style of the early 1960s like that of The Spotnicks with the new wave and punk rock sounds of the late 1970s and early 1980s. Man or Astro-man? was known for their anachronistic dedication to science fiction themes, audio samples, obscure electronic devices (such as theremins and tesla coils), and high-energy live performances. Their earlier albums like Is It ... Man or Astroman? and Destroy All Astromen! were known for their traditional surf rock instrumentation and sci-fi sound bite song introductions, but their later albums like EEVIAC... and A Spectrum of Infinite Scale were known for their use of synthesizers, printers (like the Apple ImageWriter II), and their more abstract, experimental sound. Their recordings were often peppered with sound bites from forgotten science fiction films and TV shows. [wikipedia]

Sukia : Gary Super-Macho

Sukia were a Camarillo, California-based electronic band that featured former child actor Ross Harris, who in the 1970s acted in shows such as CHiPS and the Little House on the Prairie.
Formed in the early 90's amidst the burgeoning Los Angeles indie music scene, Sukia took their name from the Italian vampire comic book of the same name. Their only released album is Contacto Especial con el Tercer Sexo (1996), which was produced by the Dust Brothers and Jerry Finn, released on the Dust Brothers label, Nickelbag records in the States and through Mo Wax Records in the United Kingdom.
Following their dissolution, Sukia have gained a cult following from the release of the above titled album and also alternate versions of the songs "Gary Super Macho" and "The Dream Machine".[wikipedia]
Moose

Moose were a British indie rock band who formed in London in 1990. The original line-up included Russell Yates (guitar, vocals), K.J. “Moose” McKillop (guitar), Damien Warburton (drums), and Jeremy Tishler (bass). After Warburton and Tishler left the band they were replaced with Lincoln Fong (bass), his brother Russell (guitar), and Richard Thomas (drums). Other members have included Mig Moorland (drums) and Mick Conroy (keyboards).
Moose have been credited by some as being the first band to be called "shoegazers" which was inspired by an early gig of theirs at which Russell Yates read lyrics taped to the floor. Moose’s first three EPs, however, are their only releases which feature the intense guitar effects that characterize shoegazing. Beginning with their first full-length album, ...XYZ, Moose started to lean more towards jangle pop with a slight country-tinge. The album sold poorly, and as a result they were dropped from Hut Records shortly after its release. Within the next few years the band would release two more full-length albums on Play It Again Sam. Despite a strong critical response, Moose’s albums continued to sell few copies. Following the release of their third album, Live a Little Love a Lot, Moose took an extended break from music only to return five years later with the release of High Ball Me!. "This River Will Never Run Dry" has been featured on the recent Britpop collection "The Brit Box." [wikipedia]

Deity Guns
Indispensable. [article : Silvère Vincent ]

Pain Teens - You Only Live Twice
Hammerhead

as early as 1989 or 1990, a band came out of the moderately sized North Dakota town of Fargo. They were called Hammerhead. The line up was Paul Sanders on guitar and vocals, Paul Erickson on bass and vocals, and Jeff Morridian Jr on drums. at some point early on they relocate to Minneapolis, Minnesota. there they hooked up with Amphetamine Reptile Records, the invincible indie label that rose from the ashes of Treehouse Records and Glitterhouse Records. between 92' and 96', Hammerhead released 4 full length albums, including many singles and comp songs as well. they helped propel Amrep to greater heights of popularity, and they helped define that "minneapolis/amrep" sound of the early 90's. some time in 96', however, Hammerhead suddenly broke up. Paul Sanders left the band. it is unknown if he quit or was booted, but either way, the damage was done; Hammerhead was no more. about a year later, word started to spread of a new band, called Vaz, featuring Paul Erickson on vocals, guitar and bass, and Jeff Morridian Jr on drums and vocals. at the same time, Paul Sanders had moved on to a band called more RAM, in which he sang and played guitar. more RAM has since called it quits, i believe. and this leaves us at the present day: Vaz is touring to support thier new full length, and Paul Sanders is down in Texas, working on some mystery new project.

Drive Like Jehu

Drive Like Jehu was an American post-punk/post-hardcore band led by Rick Froberg and John Reis, formed in 1990 in San Diego, California and disbanded in 1995. Their music combines elements of rock and punk with complex time signature changes, interweaving guitar lines, unusual and extended song structures, and atonal, dissonant guitar riffs, sometimes described as noise rock, math rock or sludge rock. They released two full-length albums before disbanding in 1995, partly due to Reis' increased involvement with his other band, Rocket from the Crypt. The success of Rocket from the Crypt and of Reis and Froberg's later band Hot Snakes has drawn increased attention to their work in Drive Like Jehu and led to a re-release of their influential album Yank Crime. GodheadSilo

godheadSilo was a noise rock duo from Olympia, Washington.
The band consisted of Mike Kunka on bass and Dan Haugh on drums. The two met growing up near Fargo, North Dakota. The band originally started as a three-piece, with Phil Leitch playing guitar. Leitch left the band after their first show at Fargo's Moose Lodge. From then on, the band was a two-piece. Known for their loud "wall of sound" live performances were full of raging drums, screaming and a gigantic heavy bass sound. Mike employed many effects pedals and a large wall of amps to create his thunderous sound. Fans of BMX biking and Mountain Dew, godheadSilo played shows all across the United States and inspired countless noise rock bands.
Although the band has been on hiatus since the release of Share the Fantasy in 1998, Mike and Dan joined forces with Murder City Devils vocalist Spencer Moody in a band called Smoke and Smoke, releasing the album Love Suffers Long in 2004. [wikipedia]

90's : Six horse
